Residents, cats evacuated in fire that ravaged Monterey Park home

Fire crews from multiple fire halls worked quickly to stop this fire from continuing to spread to neighbouring homes. We are glad no injuries were reported and crews were able to rescue two cats from the home. Please, stay safe! #yyc

“Crews arrived and found smoke and fire on the initial structure,” said Alistair Robin, battalion chief with the Calgary Fire Department. “Due to the amount of fire on the exterior of the building, it did impinge on the home directly to the right.”

Two residents of the house where the fire began self-evacuated prior to arrival of fire crews. Firefighters rescued two cats stuck inside the building on arrival.
