Our Firefighters Need Calgary Council’s Full Support

Firefighters are on the frontlines of emergencies in Calgary every day, from fire to medical emergencies.

We invited Calgary city councillors to our Fire Ops 101 training exercise to learn what it’s like to put on the bunker gear of a firefighter and face the heat.

Councillors got to see firsthand what it’s like to be a firefighter and understand the risks when resources don’t meet the growing demand for emergency services.

Write a letter to the editor to let Calgarians know the mayor and city councillors walked in a firefighters boots – but now it’s time to restore funding for fire operations in the upcoming budget.

Your voice matters. Sharing your thoughts will help put pressure on Calgary City Council to act.

Write your letter here.

Your letter shouldn’t be longer than 150 words.

  1. Introduce yourself.
  2. Include key points about why this issue is important to you.
  3. Tell them why giving firefighters the resources they need matters to you.

We know you’re busy, so we’ve also drafted a sample letter for you that’s ready to send.
